#28 Upside Down

This is it!  I made it for an entire month!  Today's prompt was hard.  Upside down.  I tired to get Peanut to stand on his head and let me make a photo, but  he would not cooperate.  I use a camera that has to be focused so I can't really hold it upside down and see what I am shooting, so I thought I will use my cell phone.  I was looking out the bedroom window at the back yard and thought that might make a good shot.  The only problem is my phone is so smart it does not help to turn it upside down it corrects the image!  So I did a little editing and here is what the backyard looks like upside down--makes me a little dizzy!

#27 Playing
I am playing Ruzzle with Jay.  I am bad at Ruzzle.  In this game you have two minutes to make as many words as possible on a grid of letters--much like a seek and find puzzle. I am smart, I know many words, but when the timer begins I go completely blank.  I am so bad that Jay is the only person I know except for random opponents that will play with me!

#19  I am. . .
I am playing 4 pics 1 word,  an app on my ipod.  You look at four pictures and type a word from the twelve letters shown that describes all four photos.  You can't see it on the picture but there are four empty boxes above the letters  to let me know that I am looking for a four letter word.  The answer for this one was spell.

#17 In your hand
My phone was in my hand when I made these photos today of a place called The Turn Rock.  It is on a mountain called Double Top between Byrdstown and Jamestown.  This road was once a wagon trail. When the wagons reached this rock, it was impossible to go around it.  The load in a wagon was transferred into another wagon waiting on the opposite side of the rock.  Then the wagon turned and went back--thus the turn rock.
The reason this spot is significant to us is that Peanut's grandpa, W.S. Moon always told a story about a conversation he had at this spot with Cordell Hull.  Cordell Hull was running for Representative and was on his horse headed for Jamestown. When they met at the turn rock they discussed Mr. Hull's campaign and he promised to improve the condition of the road when he was elected.  Grandpa Moon always quoted Mr. Hull as saying, "Moon, if I'm elected we are going to do something about this road to Jamestown."
Today there is a two lane black top road around the rock but you can see it is not very wide and curves around the rock.  And Cordell Hull was not only elected as a Representative but went on to become Secretary of the State and is known as the Father of the United Nations.

#10 3:00 o'clock
I forgot to look at my list until 5:00 so I messed up today.  I was at a baby shower at 3:00 and there are no pictures of me eating cake and talking to my friends.  So, I will use the only photo I have made today.  It was taken at 1:00 and shows the lottery ticket that Peanut scratched off.  He won $100.00!

# 8  Something orange

It is hard to find something orange.  I looked out the door and remembered this pumpkin.  We bought it in October and until this week it was sitting on the porch.  I sat it in the woods because I was afraid we would forget it and it would rot.  I can't explain why it still looks good after all these months!

#6  Soft

This is the throw on the back of our couch.  It's Parker in the neighbor's field near the Ponderosa.  It is extremely soft--the softest item in the house.  My friend Joel gave it to me a few years ago.  Joel did all the photography at school when I was the yearbook creator, but I made the picture on the throw.  Parker was throwing grass, in the photo you can see the grass falling.  We entitled the picture He's Got the Whole World in His Hands!

Little Thieves

I caught these little thieves stealing from Piper the Ponderosa Watch Dog today.

On an unrelated note, there was a lovely streak of clouds across the sky this afternoon, just before sunset.

#5 Something you smelled

When it was time to post I thought about my day and the only thing I can remember smelling was this strawberry soap when I washed my hands!  I did smell a skunk on the way home tonight, but I certainly was not going to look for it in the dark!

#2  Pattern
Today's word is pattern--nothing is more beautiful than the pattern created on quilts!  This is the quilt I sleep under each night it is "store bought" but I have some beautiful hand made quilts my grandma, Ova Pierce made.  I really wish now that I had asked her to teach me how to quilt.

Birthday 57

Today is my birthday.  Birthday number 57.  I got many, many calls, cards, texts, and facebook posts with good wishes for my special day, but some of the best parts of my birthday were the things I received from the Ponderosa Grand Kids!
From the Ponderosa Stinkbugs, Brooks and Brynn, there is a photo book full of their little faces and special captions their mom helped them write.

Parker gave me a present last week.  It is some special items for the miniature gardens we build together.  We call them gnome gardens.  His mom said he took special care in choosing the perfect things.
I love them all!
He also sent me a card with a picture of a gnome garden.
He rigged the card with confetti.  Though the magic of technology we were able to facetime with each other while I opened it and he could see it come falling out!
My mom and dad made a birthday dinner with ham, corn, sweet potatoes, green beans, roasted potatoes, tomatoes, and rolls.  There was also strawberries/dip and birthday cake and presents!  It was a very special day.  Happy Birthday to me!

February photo a day #1

I need something to keep me on track and make me come blog everyday! Being retired and not having a schedule makes me procrastinate so I looked around the internet for a project that I thought would be interesting and found this photo challenge. I'm going to give it a shot--starting today!
Photo Number 1-Fork
This fork is from the set of silverware that my Grandma Liza gave me when I got married in 1974.  One tine is bend just a bit and somehow it is usually the one I get when I reach in the silverware drawer.
