waiting for spring

I'm waiting patiently for spring.  My kitchen counter looks like spring.
My front door looks like spring.
But my thermometer says its winter with highs in the 30's and wind chills in the 20's. And a hard freeze is predicted for tonight.   I saw this forecast yesterday so I took a walk with my camera to capture some of the spring blooms and tender shoots that will probably get frozen tonight!

Hurry Spring!

easter 2018

Last weekend The Ponderosa hosted our annual Easter picnic and egg hunt.  Seventy plus friends and family members gathered for some good food and to visit with each other.  We had egg hunts for the littles and the adults!  I'm not sure which one has the most fun.  The weather was ideal.  This party is an annual tradition and we always  have it on the Saturday before Easter. We grill ribs, and chicken and hot dogs and everyone brings a dish to create an Easter feast.

Chloe the Easter Bunny.  She's been hunting eggs here since she was little bitty!

church family

These people are the best!  They are my church family and friends.  We are the most mature people at First Christian Church, and we have lunch together once a month.  Mrs. Martha Simmons (first one on the right, second row) is the cook.  Martha prepares everything and we all just come and eat and visit. Sometimes we play a game or have some other activity but mostly we just fellowship.  Its a great time, we all love each other.  The world should take lessons from us, we just get along and enjoy being together! Its not that hard and the room is always filled with laughter and stories!

welcome spring

Spring arrived this week.  It looked like this!

when it takes longer than you thought

We just wanted a new trash bin that looked nice so we purchased one. It was on sale and cheaper than we thought when we got to the checkout so we were pleased.

What we didn’t sign up for was the frustration caused by this!
Worst Directions on the Planet

Took us all afternoon and much reading and re-reading to get it done. Next time we will probably pay an assembly charge!

sunday celebrations

Last Sunday, we celebrated my recent birthday(62) with ice cream cake and presents.  We also celebrated my niece Shelby with a wedding shower.

Shelby and Darin Chilton were married in Gatlinburg, TN in January and today we had a wedding shower at the Etter Baptist Church.
