I have twin grandchildren. A boy and a girl. They are the only twins I have really spent any time with, except of course for former students. I had always heard about twins having a special language or ability to communicate with each other so I watch for those things. There is one unique thing they do that we have named, “the finger touch”. We believe it means I love you! Before they take a nap or go to bed each one holds out their pointer finger and the other one does the same. They lightly touch and then wave at each other. It is such a simple, sweet gesture and I never tire of watching them “finger touch.” What is even better is when they let you in on it!

Whoa.
That is an area I know nothing about, but really believe that the connections between twins are as vast as the universe.
That bond (and photo) is incredible to consider.
Thanks for sharing the finger touch. We also have twin grandchildren - both girls. I love watching them. They don't finger touch, but they do have a way of talking with each other - a special bond - that only twins can have. Aren't we the lucky grandparents?
How wonderful to get to experience this first hand...and the picture is 'touching' too. This is a special connection that I envy. Thanks for this post.
I love this story. What a special bond they must have. It's so sweet and their it's their own. I love this story.
I hope they keep that going, especially when years will come that they might not talk as much to one another--a good "peace" sign.
What fun to see! I have three sets of fraternal twins this year in 6th grade. They aren't in the same classes, but I teach them in different blocks. It's fun to see them connect during the day.
