These people are the best! They are my church family and friends. We are the most mature people at First Christian Church, and we have lunch together once a month. Mrs. Martha Simmons (first one on the right, second row) is the cook. Martha prepares everything and we all just come and eat and visit. Sometimes we play a game or have some other activity but mostly we just fellowship. Its a great time, we all love each other. The world should take lessons from us, we just get along and enjoy being together! Its not that hard and the room is always filled with laughter and stories!

when it takes longer than you thought
We just wanted a new trash bin that looked nice so we purchased one. It was on sale and cheaper than we thought when we got to the checkout so we were pleased.
What we didn’t sign up for was the frustration caused by this!
Took us all afternoon and much reading and re-reading to get it done. Next time we will probably pay an assembly charge!

sunday celebrations
Last Sunday, we celebrated my recent birthday(62) with ice cream cake and presents. We also celebrated my niece Shelby with a wedding shower.
Shelby and Darin Chilton were married in Gatlinburg, TN in January and today we had a wedding shower at the Etter Baptist Church.

inspired to return
I let a year pass without a post. I quit. I felt guilty but it was easy just to ignore the blog. No excuses, I had time.
Yesterday I gave Brynn some scrapbook paper and she ask what it was for. I was having a hard time explaining what a scrapbook was so I showed her the one I created in 2014. I recorded our whole life that year I did not miss a week. I did it so one day the grand kids would have something their nana had made to show them what just plain daily life was. Oh there are special days and celebrations in it, but my purpose was to create a history for them. I had wished my own grandmothers had kept a journal or a better record other than a box of pictures. Her reaction was just what I wanted. She was fascinated, could not put it down, read every word. Her brother joined us. He too wanted to look.
Then, they both decided they wanted to make one too.
So we started one for both.
And now I am back.

wednesday celebrations
Today we traveled to Brooks and Brynn's school to enjoy Thanksgiving lunch with them! They have been attending Sanford Montessori School since they were 3 years old. Mrs. Wood has been their teacher every year and now they are in kindergarten.
After lunch, Brooks, Brynn and Bailee had planned a birthday party for Granny Lerion! There were decorations. . .
There was cake and presents. . .
And a piñata. . .
Then we had a football game!
It was a terrific afternoon!

pogue creek canyon trail
We took advantage of the unusually warm November weather to explore the trail at Pogue Creek Canyon Natural Area near the entrance of Pickett State Park. Its an up and down trail through some massive rock formations and lots of mountain laurel to an overlook.
First stop along the trail is Turkey Roost Rockhouse. You can get an idea of its size by finding Peanut at the bottom of the picture below!
I took several geology classes in college but I can't remember what these formations are called or what types of rock they are but they were very interesting! You can't see it but they are eroding into a very fine sand underneath. The sand is extremely soft to the touch, it feels like talc powder.
This is the view from the overlook, it is suppose to be looking toward Pall Mall. We sat here and enjoyed a pack of trail mix and a bottle of water!
