Nostalgia 

I spent many hours sitting on the porch steps or the steps at school playing jacks. The ball is not original but the jacks are the ones I had as a child. It's worn away now but the jacks were colored. Today they sit on the mantel in my living room. Anyone up for a game? We will start with ones!

 Something I made

It was hard to find a photo for this prompt. I had to look in several rooms to find something to fit the category. Technically I just cross- stitched the pillow top. My sewing skills are lacking so  I had to hire someone to put it together when I finished the top. It's not that I do not want to sew I just lack talent. I've tried. It didn't go well.

Yesterday's photo is missing because I spent the night away from the Ponderosa and found myself without a camera and a cell phone that would not let me make a photo because it was full!

Parkerism
At school yesterday, Parker had to take a survey about his teacher.  He wanted to give me a survey with some of the same questions.  He gave me the following options:  1.  no  2.  maybe  3.  yes
I was suppose to use these to answer his questions.  His first question was Are you a boy or a girl?

These are place mats that I found while cleaning out kitchen drawers today.  Let's hope they are one of a kind!  I do not remember where they came from but I am positive I did not buy them!

Hello Spring

Spring arrived today.  The sun came along but the wind still has a chill.  Tomorrow's forecast is very spring like but its still going to take some time to warm up so we can play in the dirt.
There's a few signs around to fuel our hope!

Letter

I got this letter today.  Well, it wasn't really a letter but it came in an envelope.

 This was inside.  I won it from Lou Lou's Auction in Cookeville.  I know a little girl who will look extra cute with it on!

let the battle begin

I saw it out the window.  It's small with a body not much bigger than a walnut, but its little mouth was full of grass!  I watched it hop around.  I called for reinforcements and Peanut watched it out the door.  We saw it go in.

It was entering this drawer from the back because it was closed.  Look how much it already carried.  How can such a little creature move that much stuff?

Grass and leaves and moss. . . It sure made a comfy spot.  Here's what we thought about it!

Sorry little bird but you are going to have to find another spot.  There's plenty of other places you can go without getting in my space.  I'll be watching because it will be back that nesting instinct is a strong one!  It's a battle we fight every spring. It's time for me to get out the collection of rubber snakes, but I'm usually the one who ends up being startled by them.  Any suggestions?

A little boy's knees!

Parker is on Spring Break so he brought some friends to visit the Ponderosa.  They had never really been to the country--they came to see what he was all about!  I think they like it.

Evening

Here's some of the people I spent the evening with.  We were celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday!

 

 

It's going to take more than one photo today because we had a great time.  It started at a local restaurant called The County Kitchen.  We had some good food while we listened to a band called Olds 88.  They played music from the 50's and 60's.  You can even get up and dance if you want, but don't go expecting to just get a table because you must have a reservation! They sang a special happy birthday to Jenny!

Then we all ate cake!  This strawberry cake was created by my baking niece Aimee.  It was just as delicious as it looked.

First batch of applesauce today yielded two quarts and a partial quart that I was able to fill with the next round! 

It's been a crazy weather day.

I wouldn't mind being on one of these, especially if its headed to somewhere tropical!  On a positive note it was almost tropical here today with temperatures in the 60's!

Chair

We call this chair the throne. It came from an auction and Stephanie used it in her college apartment. It now sits in a bedroom here on the ponderosa. I am trying to get my niece to take it to her college apartment. It's very vintage and it needs a new home or possibly new upholstery!

Icy

It's a little chilly on the Ponderosa this morning. 

 It's not a good day to sit on the porch

 or use your windshield wipers

 or to be a duck

 or a cow

 It's not a good day to be under trees because limbs are crashing!

But on the positive side it is a good day to practice your photography skills!
Especially when most of your shots are made from inside a nice warm truck.
