What I Saw This Morning. . .
As I started out the door this morning, I saw these little bambis in my flowers. Now, usually it's little boys on tractors or dogs that are messing around where they shouldn't be, but today these little innocent looking fawns are eating my impatiens! I thought they would run when I opened the door.
Look over on the left. Their parents are allowing this behavior! Yes, they are as cute as can be but I can't allow them to eat my flowers!!!! They need to find a new place to graze.

What a Day!
Today we made plans to take my Dad to a doctor in Nashville. He has had some severe to moderate pain for several weeks. It just will not go completely away. The doctors he has seen have ordered tests but they do not show the source of his pain. This pain was caused simply by reaching into the refrigerator to get something!
He had an appointment at 9:00 A.M. so we left home about 6, knowing that morning traffic in the city would be heavy. We planned to get to the appointment, go visit with our grand kids, stop and buy a few things at Walmart on the way home and just enjoy the day. That was the plan......this was what happened!
We arrived at the appointment 30 minutes early which we thought was excellent and would give him time to fill out his new patient info (which he said included his ss number no more than 11 times). This is about the time the cloud of doom that followed us all day appeared!
The doctor's office had no record of his appointment. He had a card with the time and place written down by the referring doctor. It seems that after sorting out some information the two doctors had a cell phone conservation setting up this appointment, but the Nashville doctor failed to tell his staff about this appointment. He also failed to remember that he had a meeting that day which would last until almost 11.
So, we walked all the way back to the car and decided to spent the extra time at Target, which didn't seem so bad because we could have a snack and do a little shopping. At Target I made a beeline for the Starbucks to enjoy my favorite drink, strawberries and creme. I have enjoyed this drink many times it is delicious everywhere. This one tasted like it had tea in it. I hate tea, tea is bitter! My better half confirmed the fact that it was yucky. We ended up throwing it away.
We made it back to the hospital, scored a great parking space across from the walkway and hiked it back to the 8th floor. We settled in to wait and just about the time 11 o'clock rolled around, the fire alarm went off! Seriously. Some people started to leave, but a receptionist told us to wait. Now remember we are on the 8th floor, elevators do not work when the fire alarm is going off so we were about to have to hike down 8 flights of stairs and my Dad is here because he is hurt!
After about 15 minutes during which the high pitched fire alarm continued to blast and give instructions. . . "this is an emergency, go to the nearest stairwell and to the first floor"- we learned that a patient on the 7th floor had pulled the alarm and all was okay. I think someone might have been tired of waiting or filling out forms and needed some attention!
After the doctor visit, we had to go to another location where Dad had to have a test with dye. If you don't lay back for the most part of the next 24 hours, this test may cause you to have a headache.
While he was having the test, we did get to run and visit with the King of the Ponderosa for a little bit.
We picked up the parents from the test , laid Dad back in the passenger seat, put me in the middle of back seat with Mom on my left and Peanut made the drive home! Dad slept most of the way back and traffic today was light. So, we didn't have the day we planned, but hopefully we will get some news about the pain. We did have to laugh at all the things that went wrong today.
You know what they say about the best laid plans. . . How was your day?

Where've You Been....Again!
Going back to school has messed up my Ponderosa Summer routine. No more piddling around outside, lounging on the back deck. . . they actually expect me to be at work for hours on end! Last week-end we went to Nashville to visit the kids and didn't return until Sunday. Monday night I woke up sick and wasn't really vertical again until Wednesday night! I am hoping this was some isolated virus that only I got because I don't know of anyone else I infected! I am having a little trouble bouncing back but hopefully I can catch up on my rest and my blogging this week-end. I don't think I have missed wordless Wednesday before this week! On a positive note I am several pounds lighter!

Sunday's Blast from the Past Photo
This morning at church all the ladies were called to the choir to sing a special song. From where I was standing I could see a little boy and girl sitting with their grandpa and it reminded me of this picture, because that little boy and girl look just like their uncle and momma from this picture taken in June 1978! They were our neighbors and they are sitting on the green couch that we had in our living room. And Kris has on one of her favorite dresses!!!
And thinking about neighbors made me remember one of the many songs that Step and Kris and Amy ran around singing. I think it went like this:

One night as I lay on my pillow
One night as I lay on my bed
I stuck my feet out of the window
Next morning my neighbors were dead!
Bring Back
Bring Back
Oh bring back my neighbors to me, to me
Bring back
Bring Back
Oh bring back my neighbors to me!
One night as I lay on my bed
I stuck my feet out of the window

The sight of little Samuel and Anna brought back my neighbors to Me!!!

Yard Sale Adventure
This week-end was the 127 Yard Sale, which claims to be the World's Longest. Since we live very near Highway 127 we decided to check it out on Saturday morning. We started out early in search of treasures--before 7 o'clock because we thought yard sales started early, and that the early bird gets the worm and all that, but we found that many of the sales were still covered and no one was around! Our destination was a spot in Crossville that we had seen last year out by the Homesteads. We didn't stop last year because we were in the truck pulling a boat and a truck load of boxes and toys helping Tracie, Joey and Parker with their move to another city. We looked like a big yard sale as we passed by! We stopped once on our way to this spot and bought 10 children's books for $10.00. Something we already have plenty of but we can't pass up a book bargain like that!
As we neared Crossville we noticed the traffic became heavier and as we went over the I-40 overpass we could see that the exit ramp and the shoulder of the interstate had traffic that was standing still waiting to join the treasure seekers on Highway 127. We made it through town and then when we thought things were looking up and that we were about 3 miles from our destination, traffic came to a halt! A halt as in bumper to bumper standing still traffic, no body is moving and the traffic light was going to cycle several times before we could even get to it! I need to mention here that this was also the hottest day of the summer! I also might add that the driver of the truck does not handle traffic jams very well. Considering these two things and the fact that I have been making an effort to de-clutter the house instead of bring in more--I made a suggestion. Since we had traveled this same road many times on our trips to Chattanooga, we knew that turning left here would get us back to I-40 and that's what I suggested much to the relief of said truck driver!!
Since it was also tax free day we decided that the air-conditioned outlets mall would make a good stop. We found some things we had been looking for at the mall, made our purchases and used the back streets to have an Arby's sandwich and check out Walmart.
I guess lunch made us brave and the luck of seeing an easy available parking space caused us to make a stop at one of the big yard sale sites. It's a good thing we did or I would not have found this treasure you see below. An orange glass ball with a chicken on top for my flower bed. I seem to be attracted to glass and chickens lately! We saw lots of treasures old and new. We saw a girl selling lemonade in a giant lemon and some great playground sets that the King of the Ponderosa would really enjoy if they didn't cost as much as a house! We made it back to Livingston just in time for happy hour at Sonic and finished our day off with a strawberry slush!

Where Have You Been?
It's been such a busy week on the Ponderosa that we've neglected to post our usual weekly stuff. You see the King of the Ponderosa and his momma have been visiting and I spent most of the daytime in exciting inservice training and the evening hours visiting and playing! There was lots of . . .
tractor riding
hay climbing
singing
drinking
and some serious water spraying!
Hope your week was just as much fun as ours!
